Master of the Queen's Music and award winning composer Judith Weir was in Devizes this week to talk with and encourage the work of Wiltshire Secondary Music teachers at a CPD event coordinated by Wiltshire Music Connect.
Alongside colleagues from exam boards, arts organisations, and other schools, Judith Weir (whose role is broadly comparable to that of Poet Laureate) was optimistic about the future of music in schools and keen to encourage teachers’ networking and innovative ideas particularly around composition and music's contribution to well being amongst young people.
“We were delighted to have Judith as one of our guests at this event." said Sophie Amstell of Wiltshire Music Connect, "Judith has been touring the country observing music in schools and her perspective as a national figure and established creative composer with a very broad interpretation of what music and creativity can achieve was really valuable for us all."
