As a result of this course, you will be able to provide the basic skills necessary to act swiftly and effectively in the event of an emergency in the workplace, and be able to alleviate pain and deterioration in the patient, as far as possible, until more qualified assistance is available.
This course has been adapted to suit the needs presented by the school environment and conforms to the standards required by law. It includes both theory and practical sessions, in a relaxed atmosphere, and is suitable for all school staff.
Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the student and there is no final exam.
By the end of the course you will have covered – First Aid priorities, examination of casualty, burns and scalding, recording and reporting, managing incidents, unconsciousness, asthma, First Aid kits, basic life support, control of bleeding, regulations, and handling medical emergencies.
