Outline

The process for the diagnosis of Autism in Wiltshire has changed this year. The course will describe the new process and the vital role of SENCOs within it.

Description

This collaborative event led by the SSENS and WAAS teams outlines the new Wiltshire Autism Assessment Service processes, how to make an effective referral for investigation of possible autistic spectrum disorder, as well as how to identify less obvious signs of autism in children and young people within a school environment and work effectively with pupils and their families.

Outcomes

SENCos will be informed about the Wiltshire Autism Assessment Service, and be able to complete effective referrals
SENCos will have an increased understanding of some of the issues around diagnosis
SENCOs will be better equipped to identify possible autism in children and young people, and support them and their families

Booking Information

This course is a collaboration between WAAS and SSENS and is essential information for SENCOs in order to identify, refer and support pupils with possible autism more effectively within Wiltshire
