Early Years Learning and Development
Safeguarding effectiveness in schools and early years settings
Wiltshire Council supports maintained schools, academies, independent schools and early years settings to fulfil their statutory and non-statutory safeguarding obligations.
We bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to build capacity in this complex and sensitive area within each school and setting.
Sensory Impairment, Physical and Medical Service

The Service is comprised of qualified teachers of the visually impaired, qualified teachers of the deaf, specialist advisory teachers for physical and medical needs, specialist support assistants and VI rehabilitation workers. We work to promote the educational inclusion and achievement of children and young people with a significant visual or hearing impairment or physical /medical needs.
Medical Needs Education and Reintegration Service
The Medical Needs Education and Reintegration Service (MNERS) is a small team of specialist Teachers and Support Workers. We provide a secondary age teaching support service for children and young people of compulsory school age (pre-16 level) who are unable to attend school due to a diagnosed medical reason. Separate support arrangements can be made for children of primary school age.
The service works closely with schools, health professionals, parents/carers and other LA Teams and external agencies to promote the educational inclusion and achievement of children and young people who are experiencing a variety of health-related needs
